# VTK AI Policy

Hi VTK community

We (VTK maintainers) have been trying to figure out how to adapt VTK contribution and community guidelines to the new workflow where many developers and users rely an generative AI in their workflow.

In that regards, here is a first version of the VTK AI policy:

TLDR: Disclose and review what you generate.

It’s associated with a merge request template that ask developers to disclose how AI was used:

Of course, this is an changing technology and as usage evolve over time, so may the AI policy as well.

Feel free to provide feedback and potential improvements suggestions, that will be considered by VTK maintainers.

Please note that some people feel very strongly about generative AI, the objective here is to ensure VTK quality keep increasing and VTK community keep being as awesome and welcoming as it already is!
