Along with David Thompson and Spiros Tsalikis, I have been working on a threaded, general framework for 2D and 3D Voronoi tessellations (and related like Delaunay). We are beginning to push code into VTK in small chunks of related code to make it easier to review, and ensure VTK remains stable.

If are interested in getting a sneak preview, here is a high-level overview document:

The overarching VTK MR is #11825, but don’t rely on it remaining stable until the code hits VTK master.

Also, I have a formal academic paper undergoing review, it someone really wants to see it, please contact me directly.

Long term, there are many meshing and computational algorithms that depend on Voronoi, this will enable us to add some of these to VTK.

Our company struggled with 2D voronoi. Here’s a wkt of a polygon that gave us trouble. I think the problems occured when the polygon boundary had a vertical segment:

POLYGON((12.0880 21.1679,12.0717 21.1659,12.0800 21.1689,12.0803 21.1691,12.0803 21.1690,12.0880 21.1679))

also we are interested in voronoi including segments…
