Are there any plans for adding importer/exporter for Universal Scene Description (USD) format? It looks like a very nice and widely supported file format for data exchange, which is much friendlier than low-level glTF file format and supports many useful concepts, such as well-defined storage of custom metadata, layers, hierarchies, etc.
I don’t know of any plans but at first blush it sounds like a decent idea. It all depends on how expressive and useful the format is. The earlier VRML classes were rarely used…
I would be keen for this feature - it would help me in some work I do with the Nvidia Omniverse!
